Xbox 360s break. It's an unfortunate fact that Xbox 360s are prone to a number of faults that have been sourced back to the poor design of the clamps that hold the heatsinks onto the motherboard and main chips in your Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 Opening Kit

We also sell a kit that will simplify the process of opening your Xbox 360. The Kit also includes both the Torx 10 and Torx 8 screwdrivers you will also need, which many other sellers don't include. Basically, with our Repair Kit and Opening Kit you'll have all the specialist tools you need to repair your Xbox 360. A few X Clamp kit myths

We've read quite a few things about other kits and feel there's a certain amount of mis-information about. So here are some of those myths exposed:

• You don't need nylon washers - Depending on the size of the metal washers you use this may be true, but we prefer to use standard size washers to help spread the force more evenly over a wider area when tightening the bolts. Metal washers can short your motherboard causing other errors and possible permanent damage to your Xbox, which is why we prefer to use nylon washers against the motherboard for complete peace of mind.
• You should use spring washers - Spring washers in this situation are really not necessary. Their irregular shape can actually cause damage to your motherboard. Some say it helps keep an even pressure during the heating and cooling process, but if you follow our guide, including reheating the Xbox and tightening the screws again before putting it all back together, then this shouldn't be an issue. Put it this way, we have repaired countless consoles and not having spring washers has never been a cause for an Xbox to go wrong again, which is why we only provide standard washers in our kits.
• You don't need thermal paste - The only people that say this are sellers that don't include it. If heat doesn't dissipate correctly then you could end up doing permanent damage to your Xbox 360 chips. Thermal paste is a critical step in this process as it provides good conductivity from the chips to the heatsinks, that's why it was on there in the first place. There is absolutely no argument for not using it.
• Thermal paste in a sachet is messy and unusable - Really? If you cut the sachet correctly and only leave a small hole in the sachet and squeeze gently from the end, you have exactly the same amount of control as the more expensive applicator tubes. We prefer to give you a complete kit of quality parts that includes everything you need, rather than wasting money on unnecessary extravagances and missing other required parts.
